Same masala. Whatever’s in the kitchen.

मसाला तोच, घरात भाजी कुठलीही असो

Most masalas are made for one dish. This one is made for the everyday Maharashtrian sabzi, so it goes with potato on Monday and cabbage on Thursday. Pick a vegetable.

Potato sabzi (batata bhaji) in a brass kadhai
Potato sabzi (batata bhaji) Cut 3 potatoes into small cubes and cook them in the pan for 2–3 minutes. Add 2 tsp masala on top, cover and cook till soft.

The masala: the same 2 tsp, every time.

Aaji’s recipe, since 1945

Same spices. Same proportions. Same patience.

The masalas we grind today follow our grandmother’s recipes, dating back to 1945. We haven’t modernised them, and we don’t cut corners: every batch is roasted, ground and packed in small quantities, the way she made it for her own kitchen.

About us

A family kitchen, now in yours.

Mangalam is a family business from Kolhapur. Our masalas follow Aaji’s recipes, which go back to 1945 and were made for our own family kitchen.

We started Mangalam so more kitchens could cook with them, made the same way: whole spices, roasted and ground in small batches, with nothing added. One masala for every sabzi, and the taste of Malvan and our Maharashtrian roots in every jar.

आजीच्या हातची चव, आता तुमच्या घरी.

  • Founder

    Surekha Ashish Munj

Surekha is the keeper of the recipes. She learned these masalas in the family kitchen, the way they have been made since Aaji’s time, and she still decides when a batch tastes right.

For her, Mangalam is simple: make every jar the way you would make it for your own family.

  • Co-founder

    Dr. Aakash Ashish Munj

Aakash looks after how Mangalam reaches you: the jars, the labels, the website and every parcel that leaves Kolhapur.

His job is to make sure a recipe that started in one family kitchen arrives at your door tasting exactly the same.
